It was such a pleasure to see so many happy healthy faces returning from summer break! A big welcome to our new Kindergarten and PK families! Please feel free to explore my website to famialiarize yourself with the information that is available.
It is not uncommon, now that we are gathered in small shared spaces, sharing commonly touched items and engaging socially, that we can expect our students to start the year off with a mild virus. This is even more common in our younger students, for whom this is their first time in a school setting.
It is relatively normal for younger students to be have a mild illness (low grade temp, runny nose, etc.) once a month or so. However, if your student has a temperature above 100F we do ask that they stay home until they have been below 100F for 24 hours without fever reducing medication. Please also keep them home if they are vomiting, experiencing diarrhea, have open/weepy rashes, or are being ruled our or treated for conjunctivities and/or strep infections.
As we get into the cooler months, we often see a peak of Hand Foot Mouth disease, also known as the coxsackie virus. It can range from mild symptoms to blisters on the palms, soles, and throat. Students can return with HFM provided they do not exceeed the temperature regulations and do not have open sores or lesions.
I am available via email, phone during office hours and very readily by ParentSquare.
Feel free to drop in on Back to School night to say hi!
